Cock-Sang de Dong

Looking for authentic local ice cream? Look no further than award-winning local slurp-worthy creamery aptly named Cock Sang de Dong.

The ice cream, served in a coconut with free coconut juice thrown in, is just the right blend of sweetness and creaminess. Couple that with the fascinating experience of sitting at half-squat on the curb of a bustling traffic circus, and one appreciates even more the delicateness of the delectable dessert.

And in case you should wish to try for yourself (or we need to find it again), here's the map:

Lost in Translation

Check out these award-winning signs we saw along the way:

You've got the wrong spa, mate!

This tourist destination must have been the source of many an unfortunate misunderstanding:

Someone didn't like this lady...

I'm surprised they actually have two of these hotels, given its name...

Coffeeshop fare

Coffeeshops selling local food can be delectable to the palette as well as wallet.
Tonight we tucked in to more pho bo and other assorted dishes, which were especially delicious after a long walk!
The meal started with a sweet jelly starter ... Here our intrepid taster takes a first bite:

Followed by some thick beefy pho bo:

All washed down with cooling coconut juice ...

Check out some of the food at earlier Kopi Tiams along the way.

The No.1 Coffee

Ubiquitous throughout Ho Chi Minh, Trung Nguyen purports to be the No. 1 coffee. It is ambiguous if they mean they carry the best coffee in Vietnam, or whether they consider themselves to be 'world best'.

YouTube Video

In the meantime, the jury is still out on what the coffee tastes like until we return home to try it out.

As you can see, we are all buying on blind faith - or rather, due to unabashed advertising.

Dim Sum Buffet at Windsor Hotel

A lovely dim sum buffet at the 5th floor Chinese restaurant at the Windsor Hotel. About 275k dong, or about 18 sgd!

The pei dan porridge is divine, with the pei dan flavour permeating through the entire bowl.
And our award-winning taster thought the egg tart was shiok!

Dessert took a bit long but was well worth waiting for!
